2008 Steinlager I’a Lapo’a Jackpot Fishing Tournament April 3-6, 2008 Registration

·        Captain meeting held at 6PM on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at the Yacht Club. No late entries allowed.

·        Boat must be registered in Home Country with all necessary safety items on board including: VHF radio, 733 telephone, life preservers, navigation lights, and two quarts of water per angler.

·        Entry Fees – Ladies’ Day $100 per boat plus $20 per female angler.  Open tournament $100 per boat plus $50 per angler for all anglers regardless of number of days fished.

 

Club Rules

  • Must sign in at Yacht Club or Malaloa dock (Tool Shop) prior to leaving harbor.
  • Boats may leave the harbor any time after midnight but lines cannot be put in water until 5 AM.
  • No restrictions on number of anglers on board.
  • Boat must have rod holders and open deck to fight fish.
  • Weigh-Ins held at Pago Pago Yacht Club
  • No provision for late weigh-in if hooked up on fish.
  • No early weigh-ins.
  • Weigh master is Jeff Shively. 733-7800
  • Captains must register with Weigh master before weigh-in deadline at the weigh-in pole.  Failure to register results in disqualification for day.
  • Weigh-In April 3-5 is at 5PM, April 6 is 1 PM.
  • Fish qualify only on day caught.
  • Cheating and cheaters will not be tolerated and lifetime ban from PPGFA events will be the end result.

 Equipment Rules – I.G.F.A. Apply

  • I.G.F.A. rules knowledge is the responsibility of each captain.  See www.IGFA.org if not familiar with rules.
  • Rods, reels, and lures must be present at weigh in for daily species prizes. Captains are responsible for labeling fish, rods and lures.  Different colored plastic zip ties work well.

 Scoring

  • Ladies Day and Open Tournament Daily prizes are for biggest fish per species with no line class restrictions.  The line class is still important as the fish may qualify for the total points awards. 
  • Ladies’ teams may include up to two men for safety purposes.  Men may leader and gaff if fight is deemed hazardous.
  • Final Open Tournament prizes all based on line class.  Prizes are given for Top Anglers, Top Boats, Biggest Fish, All Species.
  • All fish must weigh minimum 15lbs.  Minimum weight for Marlin is 150lb and Sailfish is 60lb.  Tags are worth 300 points for Marlin and 150 points for Sailfish. Digital photo must be presented clearly showing tag in fish.
  • Line class scoring example is:  55 lb yellow fin caught on 50lb test and 80 lb test. (55lb/50 test) x 100 = 110 points.  (55lb/80 test) x 100 = 69 points.  Allowable line classes are 30, 50, 80, 130 lb test.
